casual dining room design ideas

**intro music** alison victoria (av): hi, i'm alison victoria and welcome to my sweet home chicago. i'm here at room and board asking questions about design, let's see what the shoppers have to say. question: is the dining room dead? female shopper: it's taken on something different. much more casual. the fine china is kinda gone and thecandle opera is gone and it's just friends around the table. female shopper: i'm in thereal estate business, and i can tell you, people are still looking for dining rooms. and they don't have to be formalbut they have to be big enough to accommodate more than four people.

av: you need a dining room? male shopper: i do. i need a dining room because i do a lot of parties, i do all the big family events. av: but you think dining rooms are dead right now? male shopper: just someone my age, living by myself. i don't really need it. female shopper: so many more people are interested in having, you know, beautiful dinners and really show casing their food. av: dining rooms are not what they use to be, but they are not dead. they're just being used in a less formal way. for more ideas on dining rooms, check out my design boards on designmine.
