hi, i'm ann myrick, and today i'm going toshow you how to pick out art for the dining room. this is a very small dining room sothere are really two walls that you can work with, and i really do not like over kill artwork. if you're going to have a wall that has something big on it, i also like whati call a breathing wall where you might have a wall where there's pictures and anotherwall where there's pictures, and then all of a sudden you have a wall that kind of youcan breathe and you don't have to, you know, there's not another picture there. so, inthis situation, i--this is a piece, it's a very special piece, an inherited piece, andi really wanted it to be the focal point and really the only thing, and again this is asmall dining room. i will say that a lot times,
i think people tend to put too many thingsin a dining room. they will, you know, if they have a dining room set, sometimes therewill be three and four pieces. so, there's all these pieces in this very small room.so, a lot of times, be careful about putting too much in your dining room. having a largepicture like this really gives you a focus. so, i left this wall blank. you could putan architectural piece or something that doesn't really fight with this piece on the wall oryou can leave it. but in your dining room, you really can do whatever you want to do.you can, if your dining room is, i really like the blend of informal, formal or old,new. so, if you have a dining room and it's very formal, putting architectural pieces,putting rustic pieces, creating interest kind
of energizes the eye. if you have a lot ofthe same type of grouping, to do something really different in a real bright color, willkind of add energy. so, have fun with your pictures, have fun with your artwork. there'sreally not a lot of rules, just try to get creative and do things that are differentand just, you know, put two mirrors together and see if you like it. put two pieces ofa shutter together and see what you think, but just have fun and play with it. this isann myrick and that's how you pick out artwork for a dining room.
