decorating your dining room hutch

refreshing my desk space is one of my favoriteways to reset for the new year. like all my other designs i love the clean, modern setup, while still considering ergonomics for a long work day. i ended up staining the desk, creating someart work on the wall, and combined some of my favorite pieces of tech and accessoriesto help bring the whole space to life. hi i’m david and here’s my updated diydream desk setup for 2018 while i really loved my old setup i put togetherin 2017. this year i wanted to brighten up the spacea bit with lighter colors and art to make it look lively and fresh.

the biggest new change to the setup is thedesk. the desk is combination of a stained ikeagerton table top installed on the fully jarvis standing desk legs. the jarvis desk legs have a really nice rangeof height support that goes as low as 24 inches, which makes it perfect for me to use withouta foot rest. but i can also easily raise it with a touchof a button to as high as 48 inches to use while standing. for the table top, the ikea gerton, is a solidwood solution that is nice and deep so i can rest my arms on the table and still keep agood distance away from my display.

out of the box though the gerton needs tobe oiled regularly, and there’s always the worry of stains and water damage with barewood. so i added a layer of stain to darken thecolor, and put a layer of acrylic on top to protect it. so now i don’t really have to worry aboutwater or stains and cleaning is super simple. to add a splash of color to the setup. i had a friend help pick out a couple succulentsand a cactus for some added decoration, and for the clay pots we spray painted them whiteto help match with the rest of the space. as for decorating the wall, artwork or photographyis my usually go to for adding additional

style but for cheaper diy route i grabbedsome washi tape and just made my own. washi tape is pretty much like masking tape,it’s easy to apply and completely removable so you can basically just freestyle your work. or if you happen to have a projector layingaround like i did, you can cast a silhouette on the wall to trace against for more complexdesigns. for the computer setup, i’m pretty muchfully on board for using a single large monitor. and there’s nothing better looking in myopinion than a nice large ultrawide installed on a monitor arm to keep the setup clean anduncluttered. using a single ultrawide monitor optimallyfor multitasking with multiple windows can

take some extra coordination but after discoveringdisplayfusion, it really has changed the overall experience for me. keeping everything else clutter free is alsoimportant. so underneath the table i’m just using anikea siggum rack to easily keep my wires tucked away. i’m also using a laptop stand that helpssave more space on the desk. and a wireless keyboards and mice to avoidany unnecessary wires. for those mechanical keyboard enthusiasts,i’ve tried switching between to a couple different mechanical keyboards like the annepro or the drevo calibur but honestly i keep

go back to my basic clicklet logitech keyboardwith the nice low profile design and close to perfect keyboard layout what for i need. also with this setup i’ll sometimes switchdisplays between the laptop and desktop system, and thanks to the built in kvm on the dellmonitor i don’t need to worry about replugging in my usb devices. i haven’t found a new pair of speakers togo with this setup yet, so i’m just using the built speakers on the display, and formusic i’ll just use the google home mini grouped together with the rest of the devicesaround my home. so that’s a quick look at my diy dream desksetup for 2018.

combining a nice new stained table top, withthe ability to sit or stand at the desk, with some simple wall art and plants for a newand warmer setup. but hope you guys enjoyed this one. you know what to do. and i’ll see you in the next video.
